General Manager Human Resources
From Executive Assistant to
General Manager, Human Resources
As an experienced HR Manager of people and projects, Catherine leads a team of HR, Recruitment, IR and training specialists supporting G4S Australia and New Zealand.
When Catherine made the decision to immigrate to Australia little did she know about the exciting opportunities that lay ahead?
Prior to Catherine’s move to Australia, she worked for a not for profit training organisation for unemployed people assisting them in to obtain the skills that would see them successfully gain and retain employment and latterly Scottish Enterprise which was a government entity focussed on economic development.
Catherine joined G4S in January 2003 as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Port Phillip Prison. That year was an extremely busy and challenging year for Catherine not only because she was new to Australia. There was a new job, eldest daughter’s first year of school, building a new home and by the end of the year a new baby girl. Catherine often looks back on that year and is very thankful to the staff at Port Phillip Prison who welcomed her to G4S and helped her settle into her new life in Australia.
After 2 ½ years working at Port Phillip Prison, a new opportunity arose in Head Office with the arrival of a new HR Director. In July 2005, Catherine joined the HR Director as the HR Coordinator which was the start of an exciting new career in Human Resource Management.
To help support her on the job learning, Catherine enrolled with Victoria University in February 2006 and by June 2007 having attended two nights of classes each week she had obtained her Certificate IV is Business (Human Resources).
In January 2008, Catherine enrolled with Swinburne University and by July 2008 with the support of G4S obtained her Diploma in Business (Human Resources).
In March 2008, Catherine was appointed to the role of Human Resources Advisor, supporting the Transport, Courts and Security contracts. Catherine prides herself on the success of her career being built on strong professional relationships which remain focussed on delivering cost effective human resources solutions. By the end of 2008 Catherine was promoted to the role of Human Resources Manager for this same area of the business.
Her key strengths draw from her ability to work across a range of priorities, results driven attitude and implementation of new techniques and approaches that ultimately impact on the bottom line.
March 2011 saw Catherine take up the new role of Recruitment Manager. She was instrumental in project managing the development of our career centre and online end-to-end recruitment system that will assist G4S in building an employee pipeline and talent database bringing greater efficiencies to the process of on boarding future employees.
In August 2011, Catherine was promoted to the role of General Manager, Human Resources seeing her now responsible for the Human Resources Support Team and a key member of the G4S Australia & New Zealand Executive Team.
What better example of that than Catherine Dick, whose rapid rise to executive management should be an inspiration to all those who seek to follow in her footsteps?
